How to grow button mushrooms at home? (Part 1)

Today, one of the most important ways to improve the economic situation in Iran is entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship in all disciplines and trends is defined by creating jobs for several people, and one of the topics of entrepreneurship in agriculture is growing mushrooms at home. One of the advantages of growing button mushrooms is that this profession can be used as a second job for families to improve their economic conditions.

Although we did not develop home growers, but the fact is that today these producers cannot be ignored and they have become part of the reality of mushroom production in the country.

Designing a home nursery
Usually, most of the mushroom home breeding halls are part of a residential house, such as the lower floor of a building, a basement, a separate apartment unit, a building's parking lot, or...

We must choose a space that by choosing the smallest space, we can have the most shelving, the accesses are complete, that is, it is not closed on one side, or at least there is a corridor so that we do not face problems during filling, unloading and harvesting times. and the level of access to all floors.

The minimum height that can be considered for a small breeding hall is 3 meters and less than that makes the work very difficult.

In home breeding halls, due to the lack of standard equipment and the difficulty of creating suitable environmental conditions for the growth of mushrooms, it is necessary to have an antechamber.

Anteroom is a small room that is placed before entering the main hall. In the hall, there are air conditioners or humidifiers, heating and cooling devices. In fact, we provide suitable and favorable air for the growth of mushrooms in the hall and then send them to the main hall, and in case of unfavorable environmental conditions in the hall, we prevent economic damage in the main hall.
The dimensions of the home mushroom growing rooms are at least 40-50 square meters, depending on the amount of money we want to consider.

It is better if the walls of the hall are ceramic, otherwise, all the walls can be covered with polyethylene plastic covers (the priority is ceramic walls, then cement).

Shelving of breeding hall
Usually, the shelving system in the home mushroom growing halls is made of iron pipes due to their cheapness, however, this is a wrong choice and after a while the pipes will rust and painting will not have much effect in the long run. In fact, shelving is one of the fixed costs of a salon, and it should be chosen carefully.
In the conversation I had with one of the owners of the home mushroom salon, they expressed their regret: On the first day when I wanted to build the salon, I was thinking that it would be cheap to set up the salon and I chose shelving with iron pipes, but if I wanted to Recently, I used galvanized pipes for shelving when I built my living room.

The number of shelves varies depending on the height of the hall from 2 to a maximum of 4 floors.

Heating system
In many home mushroom growing halls, a normal heater is used for heating, or some use its heat by burning wood or bricks on the flames of a gas stove.

Very important point: the use of this type of heating devices requires the presence of the front hall, and if these heating devices are used in the main hall, the air in the hall will dry out and the possibility of reduced performance and economic damage will be certain.

cooling system
A cooler with plastic pipes like an air-conditioning system is suitable because it prevents direct contact of the air from the cooler with the surface of the bed. Also, some people use the cool air outside, especially at night, to reduce the ambient temperature, or in situations where the ambient temperature is high, they help to reduce the ambient temperature by washing the floor of the hall and spraying water on the door and walls.

You can also use a cheap humidifier in the front of the hall and provide the air and humidity you need.

Ventilation
The need for ventilation is very important for a hall, and the hall must be in such a way that air circulation is created in it and at least one side has access to the outside or open air. The ideal situation is to be able to have ventilation on both sides and access to open air.

Depending on the size of the hall, they use a small air conditioner to reduce the temperature and provide humidity in the home mushroom growing halls. The ventilation pipes are made of polyethylene plastics and are placed on both sides of the hall or in the middle of the corridor and between the rows of shelves.

It is better to use plastic ducts with a width of 50 cm for ventilation ducts, otherwise, you can create ventilation ducts with polyethylene plastic in such a way that the first hole is drilled at the entrance of the ventilation unit to the hall and the subsequent holes It should be placed at a distance of 50 cm with a diameter of 5 cm.
wATERING systems

Irrigation does not require a complex system and is done through ordinary plastic sprinkler heads.
